Absolute Black ink cartridges for making screen separations

  • Faster print speeds compared to pigment inks.
  • Increased film scratch resistance – re-use films several times.
  • Better polymer curing – means longer lasting screens.
  • Cost effective – Absolute Black cartridges are 30% less then originals.
  • Bulk ink feed systems available to further reduce costs by as much as 70%.
  • Use in black only cartridge, or all cartridges for increased coverage and print speed.

Our special UV absorbing black dye ink for printing screen separations that has superior light blocking characteristics, is more scratch resistant, and will print faster when compared to OEM inks. We supply Absolute Black filled in the black channel cartridges as well as in cartridges for the other color channels on Epson wide format printers for ‘all black’ printing. The best configuration of Absolute Black cartridges for your screen separation application is explained in detail in our 'Absolute Black ink buying guide’ at our support pages. However, here are some brief guidelines:-

If you want to dedicate your printer to making screen separations and don’t have any special RIP software, then we recommend installing Absolute Black in every channel on your printer. The regular Epson driver software can be used to print good separation prints directly from Photoshop or Illustrator by using the Epson driver in normal color printing mode – ink will be printed from every cartridge to get a nice deep black image. If the printer is brand new and has never had  ink installed, then Absolute Black cartridges can be installed in every channel without flushing the machine. However, if the printer has already been running regular Epson color inks then we strongly recommend that the machine be cleaned out before installing Absolute black inks – regular color inks do not mix well with black inks and jet clogging can occur. We supply cleaning cartridges and instruction guides for this purpose – see the ‘Cleaning cartridges and fluids’ category in the menu to the left.

If you want to dedicate your printer to making screen separations and do have special RIP software, then consult with your RIP supplier as to the best ink set up. There are, for instance, dedicated Rip packages designed for screen separation printing that control ‘all black’ printing – these RIPs allow you to install Absolute Black cartridges in all the printer channels and will print equally from all cartridges so every cartridges gets used at the same rate. These types of RIPs also can print faster. Other RIP packages can be set to print from the black channels only and the color channels are not used for printing. In this case, install Absolute Black in the black channels and Absolute Clear inks in the color channels.

If you want to print both screen separations and full color prints, then you can install Absolute Black in the Black channel only (if your printer can has channels for both Photo Black and Matte black cartridges then use Absolute Black in the Matte black slot) and our cost saving color inks in all other channels. This type of print set up really needs a RIP to control both screen separation printing and color printing accurately. The regular Epson driver software does have some ‘black ink’ only settings that can only be selected when the driver is set to print on certain matte paper types, but you will need to re-profile when printing full color images because Absolute Black in much denser than the regular Epson black inks. Absolute Black is mixable with the regular Epson Black ink but we do recommend running an initial fill routine or cleaning cycles after installing Absolute Black to get the ink to the print head so that you know you are printing with Absolute Black out of the box and not with a mixture of two inks.

Absolute Clear ink cartridges

  • For the non-active print heads on screen separation printers.
  • Stop wasting expensive color inks.
  • Saves over 50% compared to regular inks.
  • Prevents non-active print heads from clogging up.
  • Keeps non-active print heads fresh for future use.
  • Bulk ink feed systems available to further reduce costs by as much as 70%.

If your machine is dedicated to screen separation printing and you only print from the black channels, then the other non-active ink channels on the printer are never used and are essentially redundant. Unfortunately, Epson printers require that these non-active ink channels have cartridges installed and ink flowing through them to prevent print head damage during cleaning cycles. Using regular color pigment inks in these non-active cartridges is both expensive and wasteful, and can cause jet blockages should the printer ever be needed for full color printing in the future. Using the i2i Absolute Clear ink provides a cost effective and ideal solution for keeping print heads clear and fully functioning while enjoying significant cost savings at the same time. Absolute Clear is essentially an ink without any colorant, and is manufactured at the correct viscosity and using the same humectants that are used in regular color inks to preserve print head life. Costing over 50% less than regular color inks, Absolute clear is fully mixable with the original Epson pigment inks and can simply be installed one channel at a time as regular cartridges run empty. Should the printer ever be needed for full color printing in the future, then simply install regular color ink cartridges in place of the absolute clear inks, and a quick purge through using the machines initial fill feature or cleaning cycles will return the machine to full color mode.

  • Color matched precisely to the OEM inks so no new profiles or color settings required.
  • Equally as fade resistant as the original inks.
  • Freely mixable with the original inks - no printer clean out required before installation.
  • Plug and Play - install cartridges individually when existing cartridges run empty.
  • Equally as clean running as the original inks.

Our color inks are freely mixable with the original inks and can be used alongside Epson cartridges to enable existing ink inventories to be used up. Customers who want to print both screen separations and regular color images should consider using Absolute Black in the black channel and our color inks in the other channels, as mentioned above.
