Epson Pro 4000
Using bulk ink will save over 70% compared to running original OEM cartridges. These kits feature specially developed refillable bulk ink feed cartridges that are installed exactly as a normal cartridge. The cartridges are filled simply by pouring ink into them from bulk ink bottles, and the translucent design allows for easy monitoring of ink levels. As ink is used and the level drops, the cartridges are quickly topped up again directly from refill bottles. Installation of the kit takes minutes to complete and sets the ink monitors to full. For printer models that use chips to control ink levels, the refill cartridges also include chips. For the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 & 7600/9600, instructions are included with the kits that enable the chip readers on the printer to be turned off, so no resetting of the cartridge chips is required.
The refillable cartridges are supplied in kits that contain a full set of refillable cartridges, all necessary refill accessories, full instructions, and an initial supply of bulk ink. Kits are offered with three different ink configurations, dependent on the application requirements. If your are new to our products then please see our ‘Absolute Black ink buying guide’ at our support pages that explains the best ink configuration for your application. The three types of kit are explained below.
Refillable cartridge kits Including bulk Absolute Black ink only
Our special UV absorbing black dye ink for printing screen separations that has superior light blocking characteristics, is more scratch resistant, and will print faster when compared to OEM inks.
If you want to dedicate your printer to making screen separations and don’t have any special RIP software, then we recommend buying this refillable cartridge kit version and installing Absolute Black in every channel on your printer. The regular Epson driver software can be used to print good separation prints directly from Photoshop or Illustrator by using the Epson driver in normal color printing mode – black ink will be printed from every cartridge to get a nice deep black image. If the printer is brand new and has never had ink installed, then Absolute Black inks can be installed in every channel without flushing the machine. However, if the printer has already been running regular Epson color inks then we strongly recommend that the machine be cleaned out before installing Absolute black inks – regular color inks do not mix well with black inks and jet clogging can occur. We supply cleaning fluids and instruction guides for this purpose – see the ‘Cleaning cartridges and fluids’ category in the menu to the left. Cleaning fluid is filled into every refillable cartridge and then run through the printer’s ink system using power cleans or the built in ‘initial fill’ routine. The refillable cartridges are then drained of cleaning fluid and refilled with Absolute Black ink, and another purge through of the ink system will have the printer ready to start printing with Absolute Black. Full instructions for the cleaning process can be found in the user guides at our support pages.
If you want to dedicate your printer to making screen separations and do have special RIP software, then consult with your RIP supplier as to the best ink set up. There are, for instance, dedicated Rip packages designed for screen separation printing that control ‘all black’ printing – these RIPs allow you to install Absolute Black inks in all the printer channels and will print equally from all cartridges so every cartridges gets used at the same rate. These types of RIPs also can print faster.
Other RIP packages can be set to print from the black channels only and the color channels are not used for printing. In this case, order a refillable cartridge kit that includes a bulk supply of Absolute Black ink for the black channels and bulk Absolute Clear inks for use in the color channels – see below.
Refillable cartridge kits including both bulk Absolute Black and Clear inks
For customers who dedicate their printer to only printing screen separations and have RIP packages that enable printing from the black channels only. In this case, the refillable cartridges for the black channels are filled with Absolute Black inks and the cartridges used in the non-active color channels are filled with Absolute Clear inks. Absolute Black inks are mixable with the original Epson pigment black inks and Absolute Clear inks are mixable with the original Epson pigment color inks, so no printer flush out is required before installing Absolute inks. We do, however, recommend that an initial fill routine is run after installing Absolute Black in the black channels to purge the new ink through to the print heads and to make sure you are not printing with a mixture of black inks.
Refillable cartridge kits including both bulk Absolute Black and regular color inks
If you want to print both screen separations and full color prints, then you can install Absolute Black in the Black channel only (if your printer has channels for both Photo Black and Matte black cartridges then use Absolute Black in the Matte black slot) and our cost saving color inks in all other channels. This type of print set up really needs a RIP to control both screen separation printing and color printing accurately. The regular Epson driver software does have some ‘black ink’ only settings that can only be selected when the driver is set to print on certain matte paper types, but you will need to re-profile when printing full color images because Absolute Black in much denser than the regular Epson black inks. Absolute Black is mixable with the regular Epson Black ink but we do recommend running an initial fill routine or cleaning cycles after installing Absolute Black to get the ink to the print head so that you know you are printing with Absolute Black out of the box and not with a mixture of two inks. Ink2image color inks are freely mixable with and color matched to the original Epson color inks.
All kit options are shown below. An empty refillable cartridges kit without inks is also listed for customers who want to buy larger quantities of ink separately. Individual refillable cartridges by color type are listed under our spare parts category in the menu to the left.
